Alfalfa (Medicago Sarvia) received
its name from the Arabs of Persia centuries ago, and
means "Father of All Food" when literally
translated. The alfalfa plant has unique and characteristically
deep and extensive root structure which go as deep as
30-40 feet into the earth.
This
is believed to be the reason why the alfalfa is composed
of a wide array of minerals, vitamins and eight essential
amino acids, and rivalled by no other terrestrial plant.
The alfalfa is exceptionally rich in methionine (one
of eight essential amino acids), not produced by the
human body, plus Vitamins A, C, D K and traces amount
of enzyme. It is also one of the best natural resources
available for Vitamin K, which is needed by the human
liver to produce the necessary blood-clotting property,
prothrombin.
The
word "chloropyll", means "green leaf"
in Greek, and chlorophyll particles are contained in
chloroplasts which are small disc-shaped bodies located
in plant cells. Plant leaves and often its stem, are
green because of their chlorophyll content.
Chlorophyll
is one of the strongest and most natural of all healing
agents known to man. It's sometimes called "Green
Blood" since its molecular composition is similar
to that of the human red blood cell.
Most
Chlorophyll produced today is extracted from alfalfa
leaves, as it is known to be very rich in chlorophyll,
at least 4 times more than ordinary vegetables. About
1000gm (1kg) of freshly cut prime green alfalfa is needed
to extract 2.5gm of high quality chlorophyll. Using
modern technology, research and development chlorophyll
extraction is able to greatly reduce plant cellulose,
and hence, provide the nutrient in a form that is much
easier for our bodies to assimilate - Alfalfa Liquid
Chlorophyll Concentrate Extract or Extract Powdered
Capsules form.
Protein
content in alfalfa is 18.9% as compared to beef 16.5%,
eggs 13.1% and milk 3.3%. Calcium content in alfalfa
is 14 times more than that in wheat germ and 144 times
that of liver. Alfalfa is just the most alkaline plant
known on earth and its alkalinity helps to neutralise
the toxic-acid in our body system.
